Cancun will host one of the most expected beauty pageants of this year, Miss Spain 2009. The 52 hopefuls for the title of Miss Spain arrived yesterday to Cancun International Airport for the contest activities that begin today.
The Honorary Consulate of Spain in Cancun Javier Marañon Cañadas greeted the Miss Spain participants at the Airport and offered a warm welcome to the rest of the group that included the production team, media staff, accompanies and the Miss Spain committee who arrived late in the afternoon.
Some of the activities that the young participants will carry out include a photo session in the hotel facilities of Gran Oasis Cancun, where the ceremony to crown the most beautiful woman in Spain for 2009 will take place next week.
For the first time in the history of the Miss Spain beauty contests will be held outside the country, and Cancun and its surroundings were selected to enhance the beauty of these 52 young candidates to the crown and promote this tourist destination especially due to the recent swine flu epidemic and worldwide economic situation.
Last year’s winner, Patricia Rodriguez will hand over her crown on July 18th at the Hotel Oasis in Cancun. The winner will then go on from Mexico to Nassau in the Bahamas to compete in the Miss Universe contest on August 1st and 2nd.
