Mexico’s Island of Cozumel welcomed its first cruise ship in a month this past Wednesday when “Enchantment of the Seas” arrived with 2,446 passengers aboard.
In addition, next Friday the ship “Freedom of the Seas” will visit Cozumel with 3,300 passengers on board; “Freedom” is considered the largest cruise ship in the world. And on Saturday, the “Holiday” (1,452 passengers) will pull into port.
These arrivals mark the beginning of Cozumel’s economic reactivation on the heels of the H1N1 Virus, which devastated tourism here and in other regions of Mexico.
If you’re planning a honeymoon or romantic trip that involves a Mexican cruise—well, now is the time to book for the best bargains. Prices probably won’t get lower than they are right now.
“Enchantment of the Seas,” a Royal Caribbean International ship, was received by a special welcome committee that included Mexico’s Minister of Tourism Rodolfo Elizondo; Governor Felix Gonzalez Canton; Mayor Juan Carlos Gonzalez and the CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB), Oscar Fitch, among others. Elizonda emphasized that, in the next 30 days, Mexico is expecting a total of 39 cruise ship arrivals, with Cozumel receiving the majority of them at 26.
Known for its beauty, beaches, cliffs, and superb diving/snorkeling, Cozumel is one of the first five destinations certified by the Minister of Health as being free of the H1N1 influenza virus. Officials expect tourism here to be functioning normally by June 15th.
Now is the best time to book your Cancun vacation! Prices will never be this low again and now is the time to take advantage of the unbelieveable offers that are just waiting for you! Cancun has never been this close within reach!
