The State Governor of Quintana Roo, Felix Gonzalez Canto met on Monday with the British Ambassador of Mexico, Giles Paxman who confirmed the commitment of the British government to assist the tourist promotion of Quintana Roo in the European Union.

This was carried out together with a series of activities hosted by the State Government to show the world how Quintana Roo still stands while the economy and tourism is being reactivated after the influenza outbreak (swine flu) that took place last month.

Gonzalez Canto made emphasis that these actions provide investors, public service officers and citizens “total confidence that this tourist destination is ready to welcome thousands of travelers from all over the world”.

This also gave as result the arrival of cruise ships to Cozumel and very soon to Mahahual, as well as international flights to Cancun, Gonzalez Canto said.

For these reasons, Giles Paxman the British Ambassador of Mexico congratulated the State Governor for these actions, for the work and effort he has carried out for Quintana Roo, for the project to recuperate the beaches of Cancun and for the economic reactivation.

Giles Paxman also added that his country was the first of the European Union to lift the travel ban to Mexico, which also served as an example for other countries to do so.

During the meeting, England also agreed to support the tourist promotion of Quintana Roo in the European Union.
