The second annual Whale Shark Festival 2009 was inaugurated yesterday by the Department of Tourism of Isla Mujeres, Project Domino, Ecocean and environmental leaders at the beautiful Isla Mujeres, right across from Cancun. This five-day event will be held from July 15th to July 19th with the main goal of welcoming back these gorgeous creatures during whale shark season and showing the importance of protecting the world´s marine ecosystem, as well as promoting the traditions and natural beauty of Isla Mujeres.
