Hotels in Cancun are in need of more flights to the destination, at least 50 percent more than the actual amount to ensure the 100 percent rate in hotel occupancy for this summer season, as a result of the Vive Mexico campaign.

Cancun requires more national flights for tourists that wish to travel to this destination, which has made many hotel directors begin settling agreements with different airlines and airports in Mexico.

The Cancun Hotel Association informed that the flights to Cancun are already sold out in almost 90 to 95 percent for the upcoming months of July and August, which is a very positive result of the Vive Mexico campaign that helped raise the hotel occupancy in the destination up to 70 percent.

The Association also added that to raise the hotel occupancy rate to the other 30 percent, it requires a higher number of scheduled flights to Cancun, which are expected to get to and agreement soon through the Mexican airlines such as Mexicana, Aeromexico, Volaris and Interjet, and will also need the support of the airport authorities to operate these extra flights.

In addition, the leader of the Cancun Hotel Association also made emphasis that Mexico´s Secretary of Tourism and Mexico´s Tourism Board should begin speeding up the promotion of Cancun in United States, Canada and Europe, as well as lowering prices in airfare for American tourism.
