Most people like to stay connected while they are away from home and here in Cancun it is very easy to use your laptop computer on the go!   Almost every hotel and resort in Cancun offers wireless internet.   Either in your room or in a designated area where you can go relax, have something to drink and get online!   But there are always the concerns about keeping your laptop safe while in Cancun!  Here are a few pointers for keeping your prized possession safe while in Cancun!   

            Protect your laptop well with the right gear.   Using a regular backpack is probably all you would need while going to and from school or the office, but while you are traveling in Cancun you need the right gear to make sure that your laptop stays free from dings, bangs and scratches.   Using a fitted case can keep your computer in great condition and keep it safe during travel.   The right case can be the difference between arriving in Cancun with your laptop and arriving in Cancun with pieces of your laptop.

            Remember that you are on the coast.  Cancun is typically humid and when you are staying in a hotel or resort right next to the beach, the humidity usually comes with salt.   When you are not using your laptop, be sure to pack it away carefully in its case.   You may even try storing the entire case and laptop in a large sealable Ziploc bag.   This sounds odd, but if you are worried about the humidity and salt affecting your computer, this is a great way to ensure that moisture and salt are locked out.

            Keep your laptop hidden as best you can.   In some cases this may be impossible.   Especially if you have to use your laptop in public as many cafés offer free wireless service, but when you are walking with your laptop or going to your room, do you best not to advertise that you have a laptop because this may make you a target for theft.

            Lock up when you are not using the laptop.   Most hotels and resorts in Cancun offer free in-room safes.   Use these at any time that you do not want to take your computer with you.   Doing this can foil any thief that may get into your room.

            Overall, Cancun is a very computer savvy town and you should have no trouble at all hooking up to the internet no matter where you chose to stay in Cancun!
