Cancun today, has the second largest international airport in Mexico and with the most traffic.
Its name in the Mayan language means “nest of serpents”, and may have a special meaning still unknown, that goes back to Cancun´s pre-Columbian Mayan past. If you wish to visit Mayan vestiges in Cancun, don´t miss Ruinas El Rey located on one of the highest points of the Hotel Zone overlooking the ocean. Another site is Ruinas San Gervasio in front of The Royal Mayan Resort, and another interesting place are the ruins El Meco, in Cancun´s mainland.
This fabulous vacation destination is divided in two main areas: downtown Cancun and the Hotel Zone.
