Cancun news: for August. The best triathletes of this vacation destination are preparing to win the next Cancun Ironman 70.3 that will take place in September 20, as the official qualifier series for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in USA, November 2009.  The Cancun Ironman 70.3 event will award 50 slots as the last chance to participate in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, in Clearwater Florida.

Cancun Ironman 70.3 participants will enjoy the natural beauty of the Mexican Caribbean with a series of Cancun activities such as swimming in the precious turquoise waters of Punta Nizuc in Cancun to complete two laps around a rectangular course for the 1.2 mile-swim (1.9 km).  No wetsuits will be required as the water temperature in Cancun´s beaches is of 26°C (79°F). Then, a two-lap bike course follows along the four lane highway Cancun-Merida to complete 56 miles (90 km).  Participants will continue 13.1 mile-course marathon along the Kukulkan Boulevard in Cancun´s Hotel Zone, admiring wonderful views to the Nichupte Lagoon as the final competition.

Cancun Ironman 70.3 event will be limited to 1,500 triathletes in male, female and mixed categories, and will have an entry fee of $250 USD. Cancun Ironman 70.3 will award the top three places of each age group with a trophy and will give a total of $25,0000 USD to the top 5 elite male and female winners.  Registration will take place at the Fiesta Americana Condesa Hotel on Friday September 18, from 12:00 pm-6:00pm and Saturday September 19, from 9:00 am to 2:00pm.
