Imagine falling asleep underneath the stars while lying on a white sand beach.   Sound like a dream? It doesn’t have to be!   Vacationing in Cancun offers many new and different experiences and camping on the beach can be among the most memorable.   There are many places around Cancun where you can literally camp on the beach.   Pitch your tent and sleep with the stars above you and the sound of the waves right next to you!   It sounds relaxing and romantic and indeed it is, but here are a few tips and pointers that can make your Cancun camping trip more enjoyable!

            Bug Spray – As you will find out when you arrive in Cancun, most of the area surrounding Cancun is still “virgin”.   Untouched by man and wild, but that also includes the bugs!  Take a good bug spray with you to combat the mosquitoes at dusk.

            Pack appropriately – Although Cancun is typically warm, it can be pretty chilly while you are sleeping out on the white sand.   So bring plenty of layers, just in case, or snuggle up extra close!

            Be prepared – The weather can change on a dime in Cancun, so be prepared for the rain and the wind.   Check up on good times and seasons to go camping and base your choices on the type of weather you are willing to put up with.

            Barbeque – Beach fires are perfectly acceptable as long as they are properly contained and cared for, so bring some hot dogs or s´mores along for a midnight snack!

            The late night talks around a fire and snuggling close under the stars is always fun, but the fun doesn’t stop when the sun comes up!   In the morning you can roam around and get to know the area a bit.   Most beaches in Cancun have turtle havens or sanctuaries where you can see the turtles or see where the eggs are laid and then protected from predators.  

            There are many ways to have a romantic and relaxing night on the beach, but if sleeping in a tent just isn’t for you then look into renting a small villa.   Most of the campgrounds in Cancun also offer small villas that are right on the beach with all the luxuries of home!  Private bathrooms and showers and beds!    No matter what your tastes are, you can always find something on your Cancun vacation!
