A group of about 300 pioneers of Cancun, Mexico, gathered on April 20, 2010, at noon to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Cancun, one of the 10 top beach destinations in the world. And placed an offering on the monument to the “Pioneers.”

There must be around 200 to 300 pioneers which truly arrived to Cancun beaches 38 or 40 years ago. Many of them came as investors, others came to work and others have left some effort.

This type of meetings have not been done before, because there was not a real organization of the association to create a monument to the pioneers who have died, but it is intended to give force to this initiative from now on.

In the event, the pioneers recalled how Cancun beaches were, before suffering the rapid growth of population and urban infrastructure.

Cancun Construction began first with the Supermanzana 28, then it was made an extension to accommodate the main entrance of the hotel zone to build the first hotels in Cancun that were Casablanca, then the Plaza Camino Real and Caribbean.

Although growth has been so rapid, Cancun beaches, still offer many opportunities, and after 40 years it is still a favorite tourist destination to spend a nice vacation in Cancun.

Currently, the main concern is to have hotels, tours and attractions in Cancun seeking   a sustainable development to repair the ecological damage where growth has been so rapid that has left a very important social backwardness due to the immense migration of people from different parts of Mexico and the world that have arrived and stayed to live in Cancun, Mexico.
