Soon you will be able to enjoy one of major Cancun attractions, which have caused more excitement in tourists who travel year after year to see the underwater wonders of the Mexican Caribbean.
Only eight feet deep on Cancun beaches, 400 stunning sculptures of the prestigious British artist Jason de Caires Taylor, in a ‘sui generis’ exhibition titled “The Quiet Evolution.”
In the year 2011, The Nautical Association of Cancun and Isla Mujeres together with the National Marine Park Authority in Mexico, will open this ambitious project that will be the largest underwater museum in the world, with the purpose of attracting over 800 000 tourists a year making it one of the most demanded attractions in Cancun in a short time.
Since last November 14 initiated the preparations of such art show at the National Park waters of the West Coast of Isla Mujeres, Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc, to provide the opportunity to experienced divers and beginners to admire original sculptures, while they appreciate the incredible biodiversity that the clear and warm waters of the Mexican Caribbean, inviting travelers from around the world to take advantage of the great Cancun deals and spend a wonderful Cancun vacation staying at one of the many 5 star hotels in Cancun and visiting the pristine reefs to the Cancun beaches, in turn to promote Cancun, Mexico as a cultural and artistic destination and continuing project growth, with the participation of several renowned artists in the coming years.
The sculptures occupy an area of 150 square meters and will be made of corrosion-resistant cement, designed to become artificial reefs with marine life by promoting and creating areas for corals where sea creatures can thrive. The appearance of the sculptures will change over time with their colonization
This innovative project represents a major challenge in the career of De Caires Taylor, offering a contemporary view of how the Mayan culture has evolved over the years.
As part of the exhibition will be submerged another sculpture; ”The Collector of Dreams” accompanying these masterpieces, and inviting you to the world’s most beautiful waters to explore a mysterious world in the Mexican Caribbean while on vacation in Cancun.
